ETERNAL VIGILANCE

I felt so confused that I heard I need to write a reflection.I felt so sorry that I did not do much work for my group.I still can not understand the meaning of propaganda,but I had to try my best to understand ,however,I knew a little.

I think indiviually,our group do this propaganda a little quickly,and made out project a little unclearly.I think we need to improve many things.We need to practise more and work hard.We should pay more attention on this.

Though i do not know clearly,I still learnt something from this.The British was very overconfident, so they are careless,this make the Japanese could win.They did the propaganda to make the Singaporean to trust them that they can do everything better than the British. During this period of time,I also learnt many skills.

I hope we can do well next time!

Another vulnerability of children is the theoretical influence that their peers have over their behaviour. According to Judith Rich Harris’s group-socialization theory, children learn the majority of what they do not receive paternally, through genes, from their peer groups. The implication then is that if peer-groups can be indoctrinated through propaganda at a young age to hold certain beliefs, the group will self-regulate the indoctrination, since new members to the group will adapt their beliefs to fit the group’s.

  I was asked to do the research on propaganda. At first, I didn’t really understand the meaning of propaganda. I kept posting unrelated things. I was given a book by ms lee. Ms Lee said that there were propaganda images in it but still couldn’t find any propaganda in it after reading so many times.

   We just post whatever we wanted to post without any discussion. Therefore, during our presentation, we did very badly. We teach our classmates wrong information so that we have to redo the slides again.

   When we were told that our group has passed, we were complacent that we didn’t bother to post reflection and stop posting everything. By the time Ms Lee said that our group would be going to fail, we quickly post our last minute work. I learned that we shouldn’t be complacent although we passed. I would continue to post research on the blog.

I feel so terrible when I was noticing that I was not doing much for my group. We were too complacent like the Japanese and are now failing. It is now 12 am sharp in the morning. I had just came back from my tuition at 10 pm. I will try my best to help bringing our marks back. I had just thought over the past week. I had not posted anything right after the fort factory trip. I have also not posted the storyboard  and the script of the film.

Acctually, I should have done this right before today. I am way too busy with the other work.  I am now panicking to gain back our marks. We want to present a good and well done presentation to the class. I am able to do my project work now is bcause my sister had just got her laptop and signed up for a broadband. This makes my life much more easier than before.

I also want to thank Joranna and Min Wen for doing their part for the previous presentation. Frankly speaking, I did not seen the presentation like everyone else who are watching my presentation.

From the start of the project till now, I had posted several useful examples for our blog. I started off with the question what is propaganda? Later on, I post several explanation. I got feedbacks from my group members that they don’t understand what I meant. Next, I decided to use toondoo to do some explanation for them. I used one of the Hitler poster as an example which affected a big bear toughts after looking at it.

Next, I started to give examples of Propaganda film. I had choosen the propaganda film: Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips. I had choosen t becauce I think it is more linked. I had also posted some propaganda posters and eleborated on them.

After these few things, I started to do some reflection on my work.

Reflection1: Group work and individual contributions to project- include something on preparing for the presentations and what u learned having to teach the class I think that as a leader I have tried to help to keep the group going. I try to remind them what I to done and keep them posted. I think individually, I have tried to do research that are important and try to do it like SBQ. I have learnt some presentation skills from the presentation I have done earlier and failed. I learnt that when presentation the most important thing is to explain in your own words and not read from slides. I also learnt that preparing from presentation is also very important as you need to get the right information in-order to teach the class the right thing. If you failed to make them understand, the whole presentation will go to waste. So next time when I will be presentation, I will try to improve on what is important.

Reflection2: Problems encountered and attempts to solve these: what have you learned from this?
I agree that I had encountered problems druing this period of time. Sometimes members do not do their work but I try to constantly reminding them to do unless they want to fail. I also had problems like not being able to find to right information. The information must be related to the topic or research will be useless. I have learnt that sometimes solving problems need a few attempts to solve it.

Reflection3: Research , inferring, mindmapping, organising, questioning sources etc, multiliteracies skills ( English) such as planning movie, shooting, scripting, storyboarding.

I have learn quite a number of useful skills during this period of time. I learnt researching skills, when we research we need to check the author of the information before using it and if it is reliable and to check if the information is what you wanted. I also learnt how to infer, when inferring we need to find evidence and infer something depends on what the question wants. I have also learnt how to do mind-mapping, we can use mind mapping on different thing. To summarise or to understand more about something. So overall, mind-map can helps us understand more clearly about something we want to know. I also learnt how to organize. When organize something, like compo, we need to organise each paragraph by making sure each paragraph say only one thing and not chunk it all into one. Questioning can helps us learnt or understand more clearly about something it can be anything, school work, information. I learnt multiliteracies skill which is also important. I learnt planning movie, shooting, scripting and storybooarding. When we plan a movie, we need to have a storyboard. Storyboard is a kind of planning for movie, we need to plan how to shoot, the script. These are very important to the movie. I will use in skills in future when needed to.

REFLECTION:

I have done my part in contributing to the group. I have also found a lot of related things to this topic PROPAGANDA. Although some of what I found may not be relevant, but I will try my very best to do the quality work needed. Although this might be difficult, but I will try to do what i have been told. I will not give up for the hard work needed to do well in my studies!

I think as for our class presentation, our group did quite badly as we didn’t follow what were given by the teacher and we also find the wrong information from the internet hence during our presentation we all were not well-prepared. I hope if there is another chance, we will make sure that we did well and are well-prepared for the presentation.

I also learned that English is like History. English also need to infer and if we infer wrong things, we will fail badly even if we have passed. The most important things is to do your best in everything. Try out anything that you think is correct. If you never try, you will not know that maybe that is the best solution to your problem or answer.

Everyone please sent all your information for tomorrow presentation to my hotmail. All your information is important. Hope you all can do your part in researching about the topic that has been assigned to you. Sent all your imformation and i will organise for you. After that i will sent to Joranna or Hui Yu to check.

I feel that the importance of planning is that, it helps us think and made us be more clear about what we should do.

Last Friday, we never did the planning as told by ms lee, when we went out to gather more information about propaganda, we were confused where we should go and waste time thinking about where we should go. Unfortunately, when we went to a place that is useless as we will not allowed to take photo there. Jie cheng even got caught by the police because the place is retricred. He had to give the policemen his name and his ic.

If we have the chance to go again, we will make sure we did our planning before we even go there. As for homework, i hope i can do the planning according to what ms lee says. If you do not plan, you plan to fail. I think this sentence is meaningful because if we did not plan, we are not helping ourselves as planning is more inportant than the writting itself. So we must planning at all times. If you want to do well in all your work.
