Everyone:
Good morning principal, teachers and fellow Teck Whyeans
We are from 2D.

Nissa:I am Nissa, this is Min Wen and do not forget Eric.
We are going to present our topic on propaganda.

Nissa: Hey Min Wen, do you know what is the meaning of “propaganda”?

Min Wen: Hmmm… I am not too sure myself…

Eric: I know a video that will tell us more details. Let’s sit back and watch the video.

VIDEO BEING PLAYED…
After watching…

Nissa: I see… Now I know the meaning!

Min Wen: Yah that’s right! How about all of you.. Did you all understand it?

Eric: well…Hope you guys understand the video. Now we are going to present to you about the power-point slides that we did.

Nissa:Hmm..How is propaganda used as a weapon during WWII?

Min Wen:I know! Propaganda can be used to change people’s mindsets or even (pause) brainwash them…

Nissa: Yes! I read that the Japanese used propaganda to show that they are a good ruler. No wonder our group wanted to find out more about this.

Eric: We chose this topic as the word “propaganda” caught our group’s attention. We did not understand the meaning of “PROPAGANDA” at first. After we discussed among ourselves, we felt it would be challenging for us.

Nissa: There was once when we did not make a plan when we wanted to visit the Bealieu house in Sembawang. As we did not find out more, one of our group-mates was warned by a policeman on patrol for taking photos in a restricted area. If we had done our research, we would have enough time to visit Ford Factory instead on the same day. This incident emphasized the need of planning or we would just waste our time and effort.

Eric: How did we solve these problems?

Min Wen: Some solutions given by our group members are we would set deadlines and remind each other to do their work in time. We would give each other reminder calls, smses and emails to make sure everyone is aware of the deadlines. When we visited Ford Factory the next day, we made sure we found out relevant information for filming to go smoothly.

Nissa: So what did we learn from this project?

Eric: We learnt from the wasted Sembawang trip to always plan things before doing. Not only the skill of planning can be applied in our studies, we can also apply it in the future, in our work. Planning is very important in our life. If we fail to plan, we plan to fail. This is crucial as it can determine how well we will do in our future.

Min Wen: This is the end of our presentation. Thanks for your attention.

PROPAGANDA

I think this picture is telling us that everyone is living in harmony as we can see those children in the picture come form different country. I know this because from their clothes, there are different country flag shown. They are also smiling happily without any trouble. So i can infer that everyone is living in peace with no worries about the attack from other country. It is a propaganda because the if they are living in peace, why WORLD WAR 2 happened?

The purose of this propaganda is to warn people of the country that they are invading and to believe that they will be treated as equal to the Japanese and that they will have a better life under the british.

TKAM:Boo Radley

-Horrifying and Mysterious

As we all know Boo Radley stabbed Mr Radley before when he was still alive but after his father died, he still continued to stay inside the house.

Why did Boo Radley stabbed his father?

I think that Boo Radley maybe emotionally damaged by his father, Mr Radley when he was young. I say this because, Mr Radley kept Boo Radley in the house because Boo Radley mixed with the wrong company and end up having trouble with the law.

What does this tells me?

This tells me that, Mr Radley kept Boo Radley in the house to make sure he would not give anymore trouble. After that, he stabbed his father with a scissor and he never came out again.

What can i conclude?

I can conclude that Boo Radley may not be as scary as many people thought. I think he might be amiable before Mr Radley locked him up when he knew he mixed with the wrong company.

Discusion Toipc:

From your opinion who do you think cause Arthur Radley to become the way he is now? IS MR RADLEY OR ARTHUR HIMSELF?

Note:

-Amiable means showing pleasant qualities.

1. Why did Jem restrained me from further questions? Please explain. (page 71)
Answer:Atticus was still dismayed with Jem and Scout about the Radleys.

2.Why did “I ” nearly died of fright? (page 71)
When “I” woke up and look out of the window, it was snowing. Jem and Scout were aghast when they saw it was snowing outside because they have never seen snow since 1885.

3.Which season of the year are they in ?
The season they were in summer when the season suddendly changed to winter. I know this because “Atticus thought our activities that night last summer were not solely confined to strip poker.” From this sentence from the book I know that the season was summer in that year.

4.”Scout, he’s stuck…” breathed Jem. Who was stuck and what had happened? (page 77)
Mr Avery was stucked. He was climbing through the window and got stucked while he was trying to escape from Miss Maudie’s house because fire spreading fast to Miss Maudie’s house.

BOO RADLEY- What does this picture tell you?

TKAM:Questions and Answers

Posted on July 7th, 2008 in Min Wen, TKAM by l0llip0p  Tagged

Chapter 10:

1.What is the age of Scout’s and Jem’s father?
Answer:He was nearly Fifty.

2.”Shoot all the birds bluejays you want, if you can hit ‘em, but remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” What does this means and what had it linked with the title of the book? (page 99)
Answer: Mocking bird smybolise innocence hence if we kill them, it shows that we are helping the evil. I know this because “Mockingbird do not don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy.” We should appreciate them and not killthem. In the book Tom Robinson, Jem, Dill and Boo Radley are people who smybolise innocent. That is why it is a sin to kill a mockingbird.

3.Do you think this chapter has link between chapter 1? If yes, which part ?
Answer: I think Chapter 10 has link with Chapter 1 because from chapter 10, page 99, this part, “He was much older than the parents of our school contemportaries, and there was nothing Jem and I could say about him when our classmates said, My father_” From Chapter 1, Scout and Jem cares how old Atticus was. Thus i think, both Chapters are mentioning something about Atticus age.

4.”Don’t you go near that dog, you uinderstand?” what does this mean? (page 107)
Answer: The dog maybe contacted with some deadly diseases like fleas thus Atticus told Jem not to go near that dog.

TKAM:ATTICUS FINCH

P: He is fair toward everyone
E: I know this because although Tom Robinson is black in his skin colour, Atticus Finch believes that he is innocent and decided to help him to win the case.
E: Although Atticus Finch knew he was innocent, the chances of him losing the case is high because people in Maycomb were racist and often judge a person by their skin colour.
L: Thus in my opinion, I think that Atticus Finch believes in justice and does not judge a particular person from their skin colour. Some whites’ maybe evil while blacks maybe kind-hearted than the whites. Never judge a book by its cover. A person maybe good-looking but you never know if inside them maybe evil.

TKAM: BOO RADLEY

Posted on July 6th, 2008 in Min Wen, TKAM by l0llip0p  Tagged

P: People regarded Boo Radley as a “monster”.
E: I know this because from Chapter 1, “people say he went out at night when the moon was high, and peeped in windows.” People called him “BOO” because the word “BOO” is used to describe a person or something as frightening. I think what made him called “BOO’ and not his real name, Arthur Radley was because many people thought he was scary and horrifying.
E: I can infer from this that he might be locked up in his house for years by his father, Mr. Radley and caused his personality to be twisted. He used to be intelligent, but was emotionally damaged by his father. As a result, he stabbed his father before and still continued to stay inside the house even though his father had already passed away.
L: Thus in my opinion, Arthur Radley was not really a monster. He just does not like to communicate with others and does not want to face the world.
