Everyone:
Good morning principal, teachers and fellow Teck Whyeans
We are from 2D.

Nissa:I am Nissa, this is Min Wen and do not forget Eric.
We are going to present our topic on propaganda.

Nissa: Hey Min Wen, do you know what is the meaning of “propaganda”?

Min Wen: Hmmm… I am not too sure myself…

Eric: I know a video that will tell us more details. Let’s sit back and watch the video.

VIDEO BEING PLAYED…
After watching…

Nissa: I see… Now I know the meaning!

Min Wen: Yah that’s right! How about all of you.. Did you all understand it?

Eric: well…Hope you guys understand the video. Now we are going to present to you about the power-point slides that we did.

Nissa:Hmm..How is propaganda used as a weapon during WWII?

Min Wen:I know! Propaganda can be used to change people’s mindsets or even (pause) brainwash them…

Nissa: Yes! I read that the Japanese used propaganda to show that they are a good ruler. No wonder our group wanted to find out more about this.

Eric: We chose this topic as the word “propaganda” caught our group’s attention. We did not understand the meaning of “PROPAGANDA” at first. After we discussed among ourselves, we felt it would be challenging for us.

Nissa: There was once when we did not make a plan when we wanted to visit the Bealieu house in Sembawang. As we did not find out more, one of our group-mates was warned by a policeman on patrol for taking photos in a restricted area. If we had done our research, we would have enough time to visit Ford Factory instead on the same day. This incident emphasized the need of planning or we would just waste our time and effort.

Eric: How did we solve these problems?

Min Wen: Some solutions given by our group members are we would set deadlines and remind each other to do their work in time. We would give each other reminder calls, smses and emails to make sure everyone is aware of the deadlines. When we visited Ford Factory the next day, we made sure we found out relevant information for filming to go smoothly.

Nissa: So what did we learn from this project?

Eric: We learnt from the wasted Sembawang trip to always plan things before doing. Not only the skill of planning can be applied in our studies, we can also apply it in the future, in our work. Planning is very important in our life. If we fail to plan, we plan to fail. This is crucial as it can determine how well we will do in our future.

Min Wen: This is the end of our presentation. Thanks for your attention.

Eric: As you can see, the picture in the background is an example of propaganda. The word “Go ahead, please “TAKE DAY OFF!” means that if they work less , they are helping the enemies to win the war. I know this as the British is an example. They actually work less and end up losing to the Japanese. They even had a party before that as they were to complacent that they would win. Therefore, the Japanese were making strategies and working hard.So this propaganda is referring to the Japanese being proud that the British took their day off.

Chapter 4 Pg 44 (Para4)

“I was the probate judge , for a change ; Dill led Jem away and crammed him beneath the steps , poking him with the brush-broom”

What does the word probate tells of the judge ?
Well i feel thats it tell me that the judge had to officially approve something which i could infer that he was  a fair judge .

Why does Dill have to cram Jem beneath the steps ? Are they hiding something ?
Dill was poking Jem with the brush-broom , why did he do it ?

1) Pg 9 , line 27 -33

… ” Once the town was terrorized by a series of morbid nocturnal events : people’s chickens and household pets were found mutilated ; although the cuprit was Crazy Addie , who eventually drowned himself in Barker’s Eddy, people still looked at the Radley Place, unwilling to discard their initial suspicions. ”

Personally for me , i felt this is the development of the plot of Radley Place . This is to make a bad impression of Boo Radley . But why did they unwilling to discard their initial suspicions ? Please give your opinion of this sentence .

Definition of Propaganda

Posted on April 7th, 2008 in Eric by eric2d

The definition of propaganda on dictionary meaning basically has a few meanings
Here is one of them :
It could be the cause or actions which eventually reflects the views and interests of those advocating .
This meant that the person who does the actions or cause something to happens has a motive to manipulate the readers , listeners ,  or even the one paying attention to someone .

Importance of Planning

Posted on April 2nd, 2008 in Eric by eric2d

I learnt a lesson or 2 on the importance of planning after i went to sembawang park . I felt that planning before the trip could help minimise the chances of failure of the trip .
Planning beforehand can helps save alot of time as we knew what we would do during the trip . After that trip to sembawang park , i felt that planning was an important step to do before we doanything .

Click here to go to the web   propaganda

Purpose of the propaganda – This propaganda wanted to influence the readers that the Japanese are also capable of ruling the countries or cities like how the Europeans does .

Explaination – They wanted people in Asian to know of their power to bring countries in Asian together and rule it well too . There were many people cheering for the Japanese too  . They might have supported the Japanese actions .

Evidence – From the picture , we can see many countries holding their country flags  and walking towards the Japanese . This tells us that many countries are alright working with the Japanese .  The propaganda also shows one representive of thailand shaking hand with the Japanese . They must have some kind of good relationship in order for them to shake hands with each other .

Link back - I know from this that the Japanese could be trying to improve their standing in the British mind as they made the propaganda look as if they had the support of many Asian countries .
