    We have 82 posts and 40 comments now. We still need to post more things and edit our work regularly to improve on it. Edit and edit till it is good. Do not edit the work just once. Read your post again and again to check for spelling mistake, grammer and if what you post is relavant to the topic or not. Please comment on my post as i do not know if i have any mistake that i need to edit. I hope all can do their part in editing and commenting on other people work. Only comment things that is relavant to the topic. Thanks!!!

    What must be DONE !

    MUST-DO:

    1) Reflections: Every student must post at least 3 reflections of at least 150 words ( with at least 3 paragraphs) on the following

    - group work and individual contributions to project- include something on preparing for the presentations and what u learned having to teach the class
    - problems encountered and attempts to solve these: what have you learned from this?
    - research skills,history skills like analysing sources, inferring, mindmapping, organising, questioning sources etc, multiliteracies skills ( english) such as planning movie, shooting, scripting, storyboarding

    2) Organising Research done so far in mindmaps, slideshows, toondoo etc, making sure the references for all the sources and research are included ( see example in project wiki on how this is to be written), Especially Important is UPDATED MINDMAPS based on PRESENTATION in class and the SOURCES/QUESTIONS to be posted. EVEN if you have NOT presented, the info MUST also be ON THE BLOG!

    3) All drafts and final scripts and storyboards

    4) Discussion on photos taken – how to use these in photo journal, words and captions to be included

    5) Comments/Feedback and question/answers from members

    These are just the BASIC requirement – of course if u have MORE, you will SCORE higher marks and the more CREATIVE you are, the higher the marks will be. NOTE QUALITY IS IMPORTANT, so don’t just focus on quantity

    Propaganda poster Assignment

    The assignment of my propaganda poster work is here:

    A 1943 poster by Henry Koerner, originally distributed by the U.S. Office of War Information, from Alison Kent's collection.

    This is a propaganda showing that these country can merge and defeat the Japanese. They also want the innocent people to know that they are safe with their protection.I know this because, the picture is drawn from a low angle in another hand, we see it from a low angle. The reason of taking it from a low angle can make the canon more powerful. After having a look at this picture makes me feel more protected.

    In order for me  to know if my fellow group menbers had understood the meaning of propaganda, I would like you guy to choose a propaganda poster and work on it. You can also have a look on this Propaganda film. You are also asked to work on it.

    Anyway, This film is now banned. It tooked me a hard time searching for it after some research.

    Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips is a Merrie Melodies animated cartoon directed by Friz Freleng, produced by Leon Schlesinger Productions, and released to theatres on April 22, 1944 by Warner Bros. Pictures and The Vitaphone Corporation.

    The cartoon was made during World War II, and reflects the United States‘ attitude towards one of its main enemies at the time, Japan. In the cartoon, Bugs Bunny lands on an island in the Pacific and is pitted against a group of highly stereotyped Japanese soldiers. Bugs shows no mercy against the Japanese soldiers, greeting them with several racial slurs such as “monkey face” and “slant eyes”, making short work of a large sumo wrestler, and bombing most of the Japanese army using various explosives, including grenades hidden in ice cream bars. The cartoon’s title is a play on the verb “nip” as in “bite” and “Nip”, a then-widely used slur for Japanese people.

    The Film Daily called the seven minute short “good fun”, and gave the following synopsis:

    “Bugs Bunny, castaway on a Pacific isle, thinks the setting is ideal until he finds his paradise infested with Jap soldiers. How he single-handedly exterminates the enemy makes for a laugh-filled few minutes of typical Bugs antics, off-screen remarks and action in this Technicolor cartoon produced by Leon Schlesinger.”

    Hello group members, here is a job for all of you. You will be writing a post of a source of propaganda.You are asked to eleborate it.You may use some of these following points to help you through. (Dateline : this coming sunday)

    (b) what do you think is the reason of having this propaganda? (why do they publish it?)

    The first stage of marking will be on 30 Jan for your Project Work

    We will be marking you based on the following:

    1) Quantity and Quality of Discussions and Blog Posts

    2) Frequency of interaction/discussion at Project Blog

    3) Amt of research done and the way it is presented – bonus given to use of online mindmaps /toondoo/comic life and other ONLINE MULTIMEDIA TOOLS( which are done together as a group) , use of GOOD Research questions, questions/comments by group members, editing of work done

    4) Posting of work schedule , deadlines , roles of different members of group, description of task they have to complete

    5) Post on research materials used – whether online  or book form – with summaries of key points relevant to project

    6) Good division of work – with each member contributing actively

    7) Clear writing – few grammatical errors or Singlish errors – which shows thinking and analysis of sources – questions posted to show you are trying to understand what u have read

    8) Other resources like videos and images – especially from National Archives – with clear write up of why this evidence is relevant to project and what the image/video tells you

    Remember that this is stage 1 of assessment and MARKS are counted and added to overall marks – included in CA for BOTH ENGLISH and HISTORY!

    Everything MUST be posted in Project BLOG and the AUTHOR’s NAME MUst appear in the blog entry! No nicknames

    You also have to read up on Fort Siloso and start allocating work like planning of shoot at Fort Siloso for your field trip in March – things like storyboards, scripts, roles like cameraman, videographer, director, narrators/hosts, actors ( if any) etc

    Make use of the time given during PW period wisely- Don’t waste time and remember to ASK your English. History and PW teachers if you need HELP early!!!!!

    ALL Search for relevent information from what the researches gave us. (Information from books and related websites.) Do a summary after you has found, include main point about the info. To do a summary in the history book, borrow from Jiecheng.

    For both researches, come out with 6 question for us to research on. 3 question per researcher.
